OnAir

BladeRF, LimeSDR and USRP with OnAir

Wideband transceivers that handle TV channels; OnAir drives them directly and marks them as less tested than the HackRF.

BladeRF#

Supported natively; wide TV channels and narrow modes work. The native BladeRF driver is receive-only.

LimeSDR#

  • Both wide and narrow modes work.
  • LimeSDR Mini: needs FTDI's FT60x driver on Windows (see the README inside the download).
  • LimeSDR-USB (Cypress FX3): needs the Cypress / LimeSuite USB driver (CyUSB3, the one LimeGUI installs), not WinUSB: do not replace it with Zadig. OnAir's own LimeSuite has no FX3 support, so also install PothosSDR or LimeSuite. OnAir finds its LimeSuite.dll by itself and onair.log says which copy saw the radio.
  • The FIFO scaling for wide captures was fixed in 0.2.6.

USRP#

  • On Windows install UHD from Ettus with its firmware images.
  • USRP over Ethernet: bigger receive buffers and an 8-bit wire format against dropped samples (0.2.4).

Transmit#

The native LimeSDR, bladeRF and USRP drivers are receive-only. To transmit with them, use their SoapySDR module, see Transmit (experimental).
